Key Features:
- Freezer Compartment Temperature Measurement:
- Geometric center temperature measurement using unweighted thermocouples.
- Package dimensions: approximately 5 x 4 x 1? inches (13 x 10 x 4 cm).
- Sealed packages with moisture and vapor-proof liners or wrappers.
- Filled to a density of 35 + 5 lbs. per cu. ft. (560 ± 80 kg/m3) with water-soaked hardwood sawdust or an equivalent frozen food package like chopped spinach.

Loading Instructions:
- Load the freezer compartment with 75% of the maximum number of filled packages.
- Ensure air circulation around and above the load with a gap of % to 1% inches (1.5 to 4 cm).
- Arrange packages in a pyramid or tiered form if necessary.

Simulated Load Test:
- Determine thermal performance under varying ambient conditions.
- Record data at specified ambient and average fresh food compartment temperatures.


Test Conditions & Procedures

Purpose:
To determine thermal performance under varying ambient conditions and comparative electrical energy consumption.

Test Conditions:
General test conditions are outlined in Paragraphs 7.2, 7.3, and 7.4.

Data Recording:
For household refrigerators with fixed temperature controls:
- Tested at the fixed control position.

For combination refrigerator-freezers:
- Separate controls for fresh food and freezer compartments:
- Average freezer compartment temperature: 5°F (-15°C).
- Fresh food compartment temperatures as specified in Table I.

For single control units:
- Ambient temperatures specified in Table I.
- Average freezer compartment temperature: 5°F (-15°C).

Test Procedure Options:
Two procedures are available for convenience, applicable to both single or multiple control cabinets.
